Lorna’s role is to support practices with a range of areas such as workload, collaboration and strategic planning. A core part of her work will be to work directly with practices and groups of practices to ensure you have access to the information and support you need.
Lorna was most recently a senior manager in social services, leading on urgent care, rehabilitation and reablement and Carers. With a broad range of experience including substance misuse, health promotion and mental health and a background as a nurse, she is looking forward to working with general practice.
Jonathan Appleton – Communications Manager
Jonathan’s role is to lead on internal and external communications, ensuring that reliable, relevant and timely information is made available to local GPs. He will be responsible for developing and implementing a communication strategy which aims to raise the profile of general practice and highlight the role of the LMC within the sector and region.
Jonathan’s background is in the voluntary and community sector and his most recent role was with Regional Voices, a Strategic Partner of the Department of Health, where he was responsible for communications with organisations involved in health and wellbeing across England. Previously he worked in the sector in Hull for many years. He led on establishing Healthwatch in the city and had earlier roles in engagement, communications and governance.
Lorna and Jonathan’s roles are part of the LMC strategy increase our capacity to support practices as the primary care environment continues to change and to ensure effective two way communication between the LMC and practices.
