What We Do

The Role of the LMC

Local Medical Committees (LMCs) are statutory bodies recognised by successive NHS acts as the professional organisations that represent both individual GPs and GPs as a whole, whatever their contractual status.

The Humberside Group of Local Medical Committees Ltd (Humberside LMC) is the professional voice for all NHS General Practitioners and practice teams across Hull, East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. We democratically represent the professional interests of all GPs working in these areas including Partners, Salaried GPs and locums.

Humberside LMC serves as the point of reference for other NHS bodies seeking the views of general practice as a whole. In addition, NHS regulations require that the LMC is consulted on many issues including the administration of the GMS and PMS contracts, GPs Terms of Service, Pharmaceutical Regulations and the Statement of Financial Entitlements.

Humberside LMC also:

  • investigates when certain aspects of GPs professional conduct are called into question
  • plays an active part in advising health bodies on a wide range of policy matters
  • becomes involved in many other issues affecting GPs locally

Governance

The Humberside Group of LMCs is a Company Limited by Guarantee led by a Board of Directors.

The Directors are elected by our 2 geographical LMC Committees which cover:
