Online Consultations (Humber, Coast and Vale Partnership Event)

Wednesday 30th October 2019, 11:30-14:00

Hallmark Hotel, Ferriby High Road, North Ferriby HU14 3LG

The Humber Coast and Vale Partnership are putting on an event for Practices who are not currently using Online Consultations. The event is aimed at Practice Managers or their representatives

The event will have presentations from Engage Consult, NHSE National Team and identified best practice from within the area and give a live demonstration of the system

Online Consultations become contractual for practices from 1 April 2019. The HCV STP has purchased free licences from Engage Consult for practices which includes the offer of Project Management Support until March 2021. Deploying early will allow practices the opportunity to deploy and understand how to use online consultations effectively for your patient demographics before this becomes contractual. The event is followed by lunch to allow for networking

Dermatology Update (Hull York Medical School Event)

Wednesday 30th October, 10:00-16:45

Skin problems are one of the most commonly encountered areas in British general practice and can be as challenging to manage as they can be satisfying. This comprehensive one day course, suitable for GPs, nurse practitioners and other advanced practitioners working in primary care, led by local dermatology specialists, will advise and update on the most commonly encountered dermatological conditions. Using a mixture of presentation and case-based discussion it will increase knowledge and confidence for primary care clinicians in how to diagnose and manage the wide variety of skin complaints that present in general practice.

Supporting General Practice Conference (BMA Law Event)

Thursday 31st October 2019, 09:30-15:00

This is a free one day event to support you in the running of your practice, allowing you to meet expert lawyers and ask questions on the pressing legal issues facing you today. The conference is open to GPs and practice staff. Space is limited and if the event is oversubscribed places will be allocated on a fist come first served basis.

Confidence with Hand and Wrist Injections (Hull York Medical School Event)

Wednesday 20th November 2019, 13:30-17:00

Loxley Building, Hull University 

Musculoskeletal problems of the hand and wrist are frequently seen and sometimes confusing.  In this half day course you go back into the Anatomy Department to look at the commonly encountered conditions, de-mystify their diagnosis and management before focusing on injection skills.  Led by a GPwSI and 2 experienced extended scope practitioners, the course provides access to prepared prosections which will help to refresh knowledge and understanding of anatomy as well as allowing useful rehearsal of injection skills.

The GP Update Course (Hull York Medical School Event)

Saturday 30th November 2019, 10:00-16:00

Scarborough Spa, South Bay, Scarborough 

After several years hosting the RCGP-accredited Red Whale GP Updates in Hull and York, HYMS is pleased to announce that the next course will be in Scarborough on Saturday 30th November.   This will take place in a scenic location on Scarborough seafront between 10am and 4pm.   Due to the generous support of Scarborough & Ryedale CCG, clinicians from this area can attend at the greatly reduced rate of £110.  Clinicians from other areas are also welcome to attend and benefit from a considerably lower rate (£160) compared with the equivalent national course.   Further discount is available for HYMS graduates, clinical tutors, GPSTs, practice nurses and advanced clinical practitioners – more detail is available on the website.

Women's Health Update (RCGP Event)

Medically unexplained symptoms in primary care – a practical guide (Hull York Medical School Event)

Wednesday 29th January 2020

HYMS Building,  York University

This full day workshop will be led by Dr Stella Morris, consultant liaison psychiatrist alongside several other members of the team at the Department of psychological medicine at Hull Royal Infirmary.   It aims provide GPs and GP registrars an opportunity to reflect on their experiences in dealing with patients who have MUS.  It will include communication and management strategies which give clinicians the tools and confidence to help their patients (and themselves) deal with chronic symptoms for which there is no identifiable organic cause.

An Introduction to Mindfulness (Hull York Medical School Event)

Thursday 19th 2020 March, 10:00-16:30

In recent years, mindfulness practice has been increasingly employed to alleviate a variety of mental and physical conditions. There is an increasing evidence base for its benefits.   This 1 day course, facilitated by a Clinical Psychologist, CBT Therapist and mindfulness teacher is specifically designed for primary care health professionals who wish to use mindfulness for their own personal benefit and to raise awareness of it as a potential support for patients.
